Birdseye Maple bowl/platter
« on: April 14, 2016, 04:06:44 PM »
I`ve had this blank skudding about for awhile now, bought it at a club meeting for a couple of quid or less and thought it was about time I turned it into something to get the best out of the figuring of the blank,it started off six and a quarter inches across the width and an inch and a quarter thick, the finished bowl is six and and eighth wide and an inch thick, its a beautiful piece of wood,I hope my turnery does it justice, cheers,

Eric.

A beautiful piece of wood and an elegant, simple shape to compliment it.

I'd say that as a beautiful wood it did not need much. I think the inverted recess under the rim, giving the fingertips just that little bit more interest when its picked up, is all it needed.
