Trophy base
« on: March 08, 2017, 05:48:46 PM »
Steve wanted to see this after my enquiries about blackwood so here it is...

The base is approx 20cm diameter at the widest point and around 9cm high. It is made in two halves to allow fitting of a 50mm high silver band. the bit where the band will go hasn't had any finish applied so that may not look as shiny as the rest! The finish was melamine lacquer with a final wax polish. The base is quite weighty but fortunately I got a very snug fit between the base and trophy so it's tight enough for the base to stay in place when the trophy is lifted by the handles.

C&C welcome

Paul,

They'll be asking you to turn the next World Cup Base next. That is a really effective base, plenty of room for all the winners plaques that will need to go around it.

Very well suited to the shape of the cup....I do hope that the customer appreciates the value of that lump of blackwood!

WOW!!!!

I turn quite a few trophy bases for a company but all they ever want is a piece of wood turned and sprayed black.
