Spalted Beech
«
on:

Asked Tony if he would turn me another piece of spalted beech as I wanted to have another go at piercing didn't
especially want a foot left on it but Tony went too thin at the base
After piercing the piece was finished with
sand sealer to stop the oil darkening it too much then three coats of Danish oil. 3 1/2" high X 4 1/2"
As Always Comments Are Appreciated
Kind Regards Tony Di

I think the piercing would have looked better closer together.

Sorry to say that this is one of your rare pieces that doesn't work for me. I'm with George on the piercing looking a bit heavy, but I just generally don't dig it!

With the wood been very unstable Les I thought it was too much of a risk to go too close.

Tony,
I see your tame woodworm have been busy!
I like the shape but agree with the others that the piercing is a little weak in it's effect.

Oh Dear .... Thanks for the replies George .... Bryan ... It was Tony who told me not to take any risks
He said I was only getting one to play with.

I'm sorry, but this doesn't work for me at all. Not only do I not particularly like the piercing, I am also not a big fan of the overall shape, and I don't think the colour contrast between the lighter and darker areas works.

Probably the first thing of yours that I have seen that I am not keen on but then I don't like marmite either. As always, the quality is good but not keen on the design personally. When I can do better I'll criticise properly LOL.
