This was cut from a nodule at the base of the trunk of a Wellingtonia (aka sequoia) in the grounds of a large country house. The workshop held onto a lovely, heady smell for days afterwards. There's numerous little patches of crystalised resin in the old resin canals and the finished surface of the bowl was quite waxy (as discussed earlier) so it was washed repeatedly with cellulose thinners, which seemed to do the trick. I'm going to settle for quite a low finish on this, just enough BLO to give a satin finish.
The size is 15" x 5".
C&C always welcome...Les
