I have been considering if / when I should get some carbide tools, I don't turn plastic as I don't like it! don't turn much plywood either, but I do advise new turners and now "cutting" carbides are emerging I am only able to advise that I have no knowledge of Carbide tools.

Pete,

I have 4 carbide cutting tools from Hunter Tool Systems. They are great for many jobs on the lathe. There are other brands available of course.

The carbide cutting kit is well worth looking at., especially now as Hunter have stock in the UK.

I made a copy of the Hunter Hercules tool some years ago which was used on the Bowling Ball. It can remove large amounts of material and it’s almost impossible to get a catch with it.
