I was ask to make this Oblong Spalted Beech bowl 10" x 6 1/2" x 2" with a polish finish there were quite a few very soft bits to sort out and the dark brown stripe was almost all eaten away so quite a bit of ca was used to stabilize it but it was a good challenge and really enjoyable all comments welcome enjoy all comments welcome

There is some colour in that spalting. Did the customer supply the timber or was it something you had hidden in a corner that fitted the requirement.

Please excuse my ignorance, but I'm quite new to this turning lark.
What did you use to stabalise it? Ca? What's that?
Lovely piece, by the way.

sure is a stunning piece, must have been at the point of no-return as the spalting has gone, turn to order ... Ah lovely.
Well done. David
