First attempt at turning for 25 years

Hi there....I've been lurking on this site since I bought a lathe a few months ago, having not done any turning for about 25years.
So, this is my first piece on the new lathe....it's a lidded trinket box with finial. The bowl is of cherry and measures about 8cm diameter by 6 cm high. The lid and finial are of walnut, bringing the overall height to 14cm, with the finial being a little over 3mm at its thinnest point. the finish is one coat of Chestnut sanding sealer and 2 coats of Chestnut clear Woodwax.
Any constructive comments would be appreciated.

Once again we see that Turning is a dangerous bug. You were bitten by it 25 years ago, it's finally resurfaced and look at the results
.
Cherry and Walnut combination, that's a nice mix. both well shaped and finished, well done.

Cheers guys...thanks for the comments. From what I can see of it, wood turning has undergone some amazing changes in techniques, designs, materials and tools since I last wielded a gouge!

Nice piece well finished. Good combination of woods too. Welcome back to the wonderful, addictive world of woodturning. Malcolm.
