Hi BHT
What a stunning bowl, great form and decoration, you must have time on your hands. (what with AWGB duties and a business to run)

Wow, John...what a unique piece. Always good to see a new approach and new ideas.

Thanks....Les

That is one nice bowl. I like the idea of panels of piercing.

John,

That is a stunning idea. If it was not for the slight roughness around the piercing I'd have thought it was a ceramic pot.  A great shape and great idea (I have a few bits of beech with a little worm - I can make the few holes disappear doing this.

Love it.

Thanks for your comments.
John this is part of what I do for the business, what is the saying? If it don't feel like work?
Les, similar to the Purpleheart bowl but I cannot lay claim for an original idea. I am sure I have seen it, or some thing like it somewhere.
Bryan, the strange thing is none of the rough edges were there in the workshop, they have emerged over the last few days. I suppose as the thing is drying out and there is a bit of movement this could happen but I've never know it before and thought I was using dry timber. (I don't have a moisture meter to check with).
Derek the panels idea is a cheat really, doing it like that means I don't have as much to pierce but I would imagine that it would also be stronger and less prone to sudden catastrophes. :-[
