On many sites I use If you make a comment or start a thread you are automatically sent an e mail when another post is added to those threads, is there a button to let me do this

Open the 'Additional options' link below the text box and it's one of the check items.

I think you can also set it in your profile preferences as well but not looked lakely.

Also if you look at the top post in a thread on the right hand side is a row of buttons the second one is notify press this and you will then get notified every time a new post is made.

It can also be found after the last post on the page.
