There's nothing wrong with a piece of back-to-basics, origin-of-the-craft woodturning. Nothing artistic, just utterly utilitarian. Nowt wrong with that!

Surely, in the interest of 'Frugality', one would simply chuck some old varnish at it and then plop it in place whilst the varnish dries, holding it in place by wedging it into the pan-drawer at the time.

:o ..   ::) .. How did you guess ...  I found a suitable size screw in the bottom of the catch-all" box .. I'd recovered [somebody throw the away] the original washer, plastic interface and outer ring (as seen) it was just for a screw, looked as if it's chromed .. could have been for a bathroom/kitchen fitting, so ideal..   ;D ..

Frugality may not have been the exacted word .. more an economical repair .. it's not the first ever made .. I've done them in the past.

Thank you everybody for comments and Ed an idea.

Cheers  David

PS .. Should add, the wood is from a table leg, I was surprised the legs were the only wood in the table the top was MDF and wood picture veneer.

Made one for my Mother a while back, she wanted it in Ebony. So I made one in Ebony with a little recess in the top, drilled through for a bolt and then popped in a piece of alternative ivory to cover. Even though I say it myself it did look pretty good.....................a few weeks later it was all discarded to the dump as Mother decided "It was all quite old and one of the knobs didn't match :-X :-X
Well done David this is exactly what should be done.

Cheers John,  I wonder is this being Art-ful or Craft-y in the case of the form of Turning..  :-\ ..

Perhaps it is craftily arty?

John, the day that Woodturning is elucidated .. then we'll know whether it's Art or Craft.
