Uneven Pears
« on: May 14, 2014, 07:59:28 PM »
There has been a couple of postings of pears of late. So I thought I'd post a few of mine.

Laburnum pears but turned over two slightly different axis to give them the pear 'bent' shape. They do need to be finished off the lathe, so a bit of work with the Dremel and a small sanding drum.

I started doing them like this when I had a bit of branch with a bend in it I did not want to waste, since then they've become something I like to do that's different.

Critiques and comments as you will and thanks for looking.

I was expecting to see a pair, but there's three of 'em!  :D

Seriously, though, Bryan....that little extra work that you do makes all the diufference, it really is quite convincing.

Is that Groanworthy?

An 'Uneven Prial' did not have quite the same ring to it.

But seriously, I'm glad you like them.

Its that little extra effort that makes some work stand out.
perhaps we could have a 'conference' about it.   :)

I have learnt the first rule of woodturning.
The internal diameter should never exceed the external width.
Nor the internal depth, the external height.
Does that make me an expert now ?

They look the way pears are as nature intended.........I love them. I'm going to try doing some.

Different from the norm  Bryan that extra off axis work certainly paid off.
    Well finished pears.

When you do, pop up a piccie, I would love to see another interpretation of them.

And thanks everyone, the public like them but it's It good to see them so well received by other turners.
