« on: August 09, 2014, 12:50:53 PM »
Hi does anyone have a backplate for the axminster super precision chuck spare that they are willing to part with.

Thread size 1-1/4"x8tpi for a maxi lathe.

Thank you

I'd noticed panning through the listed chucks/jaws that Ax list backplates in most sizes are available .. http://www.axminster.co.uk/backplates-for-super-precision-chuck .. may need to contact them for your size, may not be cheapest if need to run a one off.. but something to consider if no one comes up with plate.

I've been in touch with Axminster. It took ten days to get a reply and only then after I sent a an email asking again. They don't do back plates in this thread anymore. A pity I thought but never mind.

It might be a strange idea but do they do a non-threaded blank, or could you buy a 3/4 x 16 and take it to an engineering company and have threaded you your own requirements.

I think the Versachuck backplate from Toolpost fits the Axi SP chuck.

could you not mount any back plate with a chuck insert?
