I finished this last week without a lid,but wasn`t happy with the shape of the base which I copied from the book Classic Forms by Stuart E Dyas,so yesterday I returned the base, making it slightly thinner and with a bead instead of being a square edge at the bottom, also hollowed the underside of the base a bit, then I made a lid for it out of a small bowlsave piece of Walnut and an Ebony finial, the base is spalted Silver Birch, the hollow form is Spalted Sycamor, the hollow form is about 5mm thick, the lid about 6mm,its 31cm tall(12 14 ") and 13 1/2 cm (5 5/16") at the widest point, cheers, Eric.
