Axi Evolution Live tail centre

I brought myself one of these back in March when I purchased my first lathe and it has just seized up.
Anyone else got one ?
Anyone else had a problem with it ?
I have just emailed them to see what they say.

I have learnt the first rule of woodturning.
The internal diameter should never exceed the external width.
Nor the internal depth, the external height.
Does that make me an expert now ?

Had one a while, had no problems. No doubt they will replace it, be surprised if they don't.

I bought one around the same time and that went stiff after a few uses. It was replaced without any quibble. Perhaps they had a duff batch?

Axi have asked to see it and they will repair or replace so I am going to take it in while I am down that way for the Yandles show.

So I tool it into the Axi store in Axminster and said I didn't feel to happy about the thought of it being repaired and they replaced it without question.
Good old Axi

But..... I used it for the first time last night and it grates badly. There is one particular spot every revolution and it doesn't sound healthy at all. I have emailed them again.

It sounds like they have a bearing supply/supplier problem.

Indeed it does. but the lack of quality control doesn't do much for confidence in what is supposed to be a top of the line item.

I am rather fond of Axminster at the moment too. They sent me a rather nice pillar drill that they say I won in a competition that was in the woodworker magazine.
