Griselinia bowls

A lovely wood , rarely used ( rarely big enough !)  very unusual patterns in the grain and colour is unusual as well . these are approx 9" dia .

What amazing timber, and those soft, flowing curves just suit it so well. Lovely stuff!

Wow they are so very nice I have only ever made pens with this wood and I thought they were wonderful but your bowls are something else love em

I had to Google it, never heard of it and if I saw it would probably think it was a privet.

That said great shapes for such a fantastic looking timber - sometimes I wish I knew more tree surgeons, I just love garden shrub timber.

Now that is really stunning timber.

I don't know what looks best the bowls or the timber  :)

aaahhh now I know what the log my soninlaw gave a few years ago is,the second pic the bowl on the left is exactly the same grain as the bowls I made fron the the log he gave me from a big country mansion he was working at,he did ask the owner before taking the log,when they found out I was a woodturner they said yes,lovely bowls by the way,cheers,

I have learnt the first rule of woodturning.
The internal diameter should never exceed the external width.
Nor the internal depth, the external height.
Does that make me an expert now ?

Isn't God wonderful .. and we're Blessed with the same creative ability to make such stunning forms, here the timber makes the pieces .. just ponder where do we get Our ideas ...

As I said I'd never heard of this timber before you posted the bowls, but today I say Pen Blanks on eBay from Griselinia.
