Brown Oak Bowl

This bowl is turned from a Brown Oak blank that was given to me at the last yandle's show by Tony Davis (Known on here as georg)
Approx 10" x 2" Thank you Tony.

I really like it when the turner is savvy enough to hold back on the design and just let the wood take the credit...it works so well.

p.s. ... next time you're hungry, get a sandwich - don't bite lumps out of your bowls? ;) ;)
Education is important, but wood turning is importanter.

Thats a lovely bit of oak, and you have done it justice.

I have learnt the first rule of woodturning.
The internal diameter should never exceed the external width.
Nor the internal depth, the external height.
Does that make me an expert now ?

well at first sight I thought, clever idea, off centre turning to leave a wainy edge for a natural feature and gain a slightly larger bowl from the blank...

... but the I read a bit flew off, I trust no damage and not too big a scare George.

Love the colour and bit of burr in it, isthat an oil finish?
