Ooooh worm holes. Good man LOL. nce again you prove that you aren't just a 'colour' turner. Lovely work with what probably wasn't the easiest wood to deal with.

Hi Pete it was very dusty to turn other than that it was OK.
I am starting to use some of the stock wood that I have.
I have probably got about six ton so I will have to keep at it.

I really like the way the growth rings are displayed going down to a spot in the bottom of the bowl , normally the way on a natural edge bowl in which the hollow is toward centre .  I have not come across Elm used as beams very often before , just goes to show what can be found ,and made in to some thing nice .... well done !  Terry...

In this area before the Dutch Elm disease Elm was used in everything from coffins to food utensils.
I have seen Elm floor boards close on three feet wide .
A lot of the roof timbers in the older properties in this ares are made from Elm it is a very durable wood and was plentiful around here.

Hello George,
Very nice bowl as Twig said I also like growth rings, will this be difficult to sell with all those worm holes?

                                       Regards John

Goerge a simple shape to show off the grain and past life (worm holes) of the timber.

You know I like this sort of thing.
