Very nice George, Nice flow and shape and the colour adds a depth to its clour and grain.

Hi Sevilla.
Thank you for commenting I am pleased you like it
Hi Mark.
Thank you for commenting it is a beautiful bit of wood and as you say the staining brings out the grain.

I said on another thread that I don't like coloured wood except when I do, which is daft so I have been looking again at the ones I like and a pattern is forming. Sometimes wood is coloured because the plain wood is boring and these I am not fond of. Other times wood is lightly coloured like this one to bring out or highlight the grain. It is like perfume, some put it on by the bucketful while others know that the merest hint often works better. These I like.
So you have my permission to carry on.

I have learnt the first rule of woodturning.
The internal diameter should never exceed the external width.
Nor the internal depth, the external height.
Does that make me an expert now ?

Well I posted to this last night but don't see it here, something must have gone wrong somewhere.
George,
The stain has really brought out the grain well, though it does seem a little strong against the colour of the Robinia.

Thank you Bryan for your comment. The grain on Rubinia is quite strong and in the flesh it probably looks a bit softer I am not sure.
