I don't bother personally but there's no harm in doing so. Stuff this size is likely to do it's own thing whatever you do and at that diameter, if it splits you still have usable size pieces.

Hi Steve....due to a few problems with a physical injury, I didn't even get going on it. It was cut into 3 major pieces and stacked away....but soemday soon!
