Bird table
« on: May 02, 2015, 05:59:45 PM »
I've almost completed this project, but I have a problem.
SWMBO would like it painting a powder green, I would like it left natural.
She has bought the paint and to be fair she may be right.  It pains me to
paint it, but it is not about me.
I will post another picture after I have painted it.
What do you think  ???  Painted or natural?
        Regards
               Haggy

Reach a compromise and use a green, translucent stain!

Les
Education is important, but wood turning is importanter.

The legs are endgrain against the ground, they'll soak up moisture quite easy, so some sort of protective coating would be a good idea. Compromise, paint (or as Les says Oil stain) the legs and post, leave the feed table natural.

...Oh who am I kidding, follow me, I know a shortcut!

Food for thought- I didn't consider a compromise!
You may have something here - I am now considering painting the stand only.
(Not sure if the paint is translucent Les)
     Thank you Haggy

The birds will prefer natural and aged so just do the stand and maybe the roof  --  Julian
