Since making the large ash platter for the shop, there has been a lot of interest in platters in general, so I've been making a few for display there.
This first one is a commissions. It's a 42cm (17") piece of very characterful yew.
Next is a 35cm (14") piece of spalted beech. It was a bit of a challenge because the blank was only 1.5" thick and badly warped, so it needed a sacrificial piece of timber glued on to get it started.
...and finally, a 35cm (14") piece of brown oak which was dismissed by the mill that I bought a slab from, as being an area of that slab that was unsuitable for use, and therefore not included in the cost.
All three are sealed with dilute melemine lacquer and finished with micro-crystaline wax.
C&C always welcome.
