Bit of everything.
« on: June 04, 2015, 08:05:08 PM »
As I've said before a jobbing turner has to have a go at whatever puts food on the table. Today it was half cone sticks, drawer knobs then playtime.

The drawer knobs are just prototypes to get the right shape for the customer. The amphora is oak burr hollowed190mm long on a root of unknown wood with a crystalline piece as an addition. As usual I haven't glued it up yet and will just leave as is for a while in case I decide on something different C&C welcome as always ( be gentle George LOL)

Hi Pete
For me the crystals are a step too far other than that I like it.
I liked the one with the pearls more I think it is because the pearls were spilling out of the jug where as this looks a bit disjointed to me.
Sorry to be negative

Not negative George, honest. Rather that than false flattery any day. I may yet change my mind but the pearl trick didn't seem to work with this one.

Now that's a good idea, I know one or two glass makers. Have to look into that. Thanks

Half cone sticks are used in embroidery for stump work which is is making 3d effects such as raised flowers. I do a lot of traditional tools for various crafts like these. There are some weird things out there believe me. LOL

Pete,

the crystals are Titanium Crystals, (Google search in Images).

I thought I recognised them when I saw the colours, they used to make jewellry out of the stuff and use heat to create these amazing colours.
