cherry log

Here is a vase turned from a cherry log, 12 inch high. The tree had a burl for half of its circumference.
C&C welcome

Sevilla,

I like the shape of this, and the bead around the neck gives it a classical form.

You've also probably picked up on the fact we like the areas of natural bark or blemishes left in the work. So that aspect helps bring the piece alives for me as well.

I'll echo what Bryan just said....a very pleasing shape that just sits well....also, good to see that it has slightly different appeal from different directions.

is it a complete hollow form?
why do i feel the need to turn a block of wood into shavings?

Steve, if you are asking if it is holowed all the way the answer is yes. I try to make only usable items, and this is supposed to be a dried flower vase,
