I did wonder about polishing the pewter but there were two reasons why I chose not to. One I wanted it to look as natural as possible so as it flowed I left it, some comes out in a clean stream, some more ripled and I have left it that why (at the moment) The other was experience has taught me through polishing pewter inset into goblets, however careful you are (maybe it's just me) that a dirty grey to black dust embeds in the surrounding wood and if I want to polish pewter I need to do it away from the wood which I can't do here as it is poured directly onto the piece.
At the moment I am undecided whether it should go on a base of some sort as a sculptural piece or just left as is. if I am happy with it on the day I will steel myself and take it with me. If I have time I want to do a couple of other things as well, different but we'll see. I've clearded all commissions and just rebuilding stock so I theoretically have the time.
