reminds me of a ball of wool, cant make my mind up - i like the method but it also confuses me.

I'm with David, it is a yes.

Okay it's ugly, would not stand up to handling, would be a horror to dust...

... but it is taking your work in a totally different direction, it's experimentation and that's important.

Also remember Failure is an option, if you don't fail sometimes, you're not pushing hard enough.

I agree with a lot of the comments here, not for me. However, I do like the technique, and I think it's worth exploring.
Well done in coming up with the idea.
