I don't think the CD course was ever intended for youngsters or others to learn turning - the purpose is as the title implies - teaching turning. i.e. the course is for tutors, not students.

Hi everyone.

Downloaded and installed the Teach Turning .exe file (v1.0) from the website the other day but it fails to do anything on Windows 7 64bit.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Martin

You might have to run is as a 32bit application (right click on icon and select appropriate choice).

It works on my 64 bit Windows 7 PC without having to do anything special.

When you say it does nothing, what happens when you run the installer? Have you downloaded/saved it before running it? The file is approx 650Mb so it takes a while to download. What you should see when you run it is the Windows UAC message asking if you want to allow it to make changes and once you ok that, the installer should appear.

You can also run the course from the website here http://www.awgb.co.uk/ltt/player.html

I'm delighted to let you know that we have had great feedback from the USA and Australia.

This came on the 4 Feb "Please allow me to introduce myself.  My name is John Jacobs and I am the Librarian for the South Puget Sound Woodturners, a chapter of American Association of Woodturners.  We are located in Fife, Washington, USA.
I recently had the opportunity to view your video and was quite impressed with its thoughtful organization and presentation, not to mention the terrific content. In our club we use mentors to guide novice turners.  Our mentors are experienced turners with an overall knowledge of woodturning.  Each has his/her own specialty area but is a qualified generalist turner as well.  Since we do not have a formal training structure for qualifying our mentors, we were wondering if you would have any objection to our use of your video.  If not, what would we need to do to obtain your approval?
"

We did of course say yes!

Cheers Dave

Thanks, Paul.

Sorry. Should have been more specific. The .exe file installed no problem after downloading it, but when I launch the program, I am confronted with a blank grey screen with a dead icon in the top left corner like this:

I've tried troubleshooting it and running it in Adminstrator Mode, but the same thing happens. There are no error messages to accompany it either.

Thanks for the link to the player. I'll use that to do the course if a new download of the .exe file renders the same results.

All the best,

Martin

Downloaded and installed Flash player...still no joy. Still get the same grey screen.

I'll download the .exe file and try again.

Thanks, Paul.
I'll do that to start and re-download the .exe file and try again...just in case my rural ropey broadband corrupted the download...we've have had some connection issues recently - maybe that's it!
