What an interesting concept and collection of shapes....I feel that the pin would have worked better if it had been more angular, but that's just my personal take on it. Always interesting to see such original work.

Ok. What? Why? When I see pieces like this I want to know the thinking behind it. It is interesting, clever etc but there is more in it somwhere?

Nice concept and use of shapes. I may be totally wrong here but it looks to me like wand in the middle with the shapes triangle and circle featuring in witchcraft, Harry Potter etc. Thanks for sharing.

Not just any wand, my friends. This is a depiction of the Elder Wand owned by Albus Dumbledore, and stolen from his grave by Lord Voldemort. It's a central piece of the whole saga. The Elder Wand is one of the three Deathly Hallows, the other two being the Cloak of Invisibility and the Resurrection Stone, represented by the triangle and the circle, respectively.

I am pretty sure that John's daughter will absolutely love this. This is a real showpiece.

Never read and never watched a Harry Potter...just not my thing. Ok....so the wand's the shape it is because that's the way it is in the movie!
Having said all that, a further good look at this reveals some fine joint-making at the miters and between the ring and the triangle. I guess it's one of those deceptively simple looking pieces, that really is well thought out and well executed....and a darn fine photograph to boot!

Lovely piece of work. All the joints look perfect and the wood choice giving great contrast between the parts works very well. I don't know about the Harry Potter books or films and now understand the symbolism of the parts. I am sure the recipient will love it. Very well done and thought out. Malcolm.

I saw the wand straight away, but not the link to HP or what the other shapes related to.

That will take pride of place on a show shelf in your daughters friend home.
