Massur Birch box
« on: March 07, 2016, 09:22:01 PM »
This is my first ever turning from Massur Birch, possibly down to the availability and expense of the timber. A dream to turn and finishes to such a silky smooth finish. I was lucky enough to be gifted this piece from my friend Sy Henderson RPT. Hopefully he will like what I did with it. It measures 6" x 3 1/4" and is finished with finishing oil then buffed. Oh yeah and the wee knob is a bit of African Blackwood.
C & C's welcome as usual.

Rgds

I like this....simple form, just enough decoration to make the joint a feature and the knob is small enough not to overpower anything else.......and that grain is to die for!

Oh yeah and it's just a wee bit beautiful.

Great looking form and the finial is just enough to give it a slightly oriental air to it.
