I do get a bit frustrated when I'm working on the more basic commissions, so I've spared a few hours in the last couple of days to just have a bit of fun making things to put on the shelf.
First off is a lidded pot strongly influenced by the work of Kurt Fuller, who does this pot-bellied shape so well. It's a 4"x4" piece of walnut with a sycamore lid (...well, it did have sycamore, but I found a nasty little wormhole in it, so I used a piece of ash instead)....

...next, a couple of oak bowls. There's been a few examples lately of ebonising and scorching, the latter of which I really enjoy doing, so here's 2 oak bowls that have scorched areas and lime waxed afterwards.
This one's about 8" diameter...

...and this one a little smaller, 7 1/2", if I recall correctly...

...next, a brown oak platter. This was a blank that I'd cut from the edge of a 1 1/2" board, but one edge of the blank curled upwards whilst the rest was flat, so I barely managed to get a 1" thick finished platter out of it, hence the very shallow curve on it - just enough to stop fruit rolling away! It's 12" diameter and is finished with microcrystaline wax.

...and finally, a piece of pure fun. A little 'ort' bowl from a piece of spalted sycamore branchwood, barely 3" diameter.

C&C always welcome....Les
