Emarald Forest and Wild Flowers
« on: June 25, 2016, 07:00:47 PM »

Still Playing with Marbling Techniques As we have another Demo in August. The first 2 photos are of a Burr Hollow Form
and have used Spirit Stains and we know there are some faults in the wood. The 3rd and 4th photos are bowls and again
used Spirit Stain .. the 5th photo has been done using Inks ..... we realise the shapes are not very exciting but they were
done as before because they fit into the bucket. :) :)
Comments as always are most welcome
 Kind regards  Di & Tony

Tony, Di,

Don't worry about the shape of the form, I've seen plenty of ceramics that have this shape, it's the colours that you've applied, they really do work well, a very dramatic effect.

I like the orange platters, don't know why, I think it's the unevenness of the applied colour (more to one side than the other) also it's not OTT on colour, very gentle and translucent application which works for orange, too thick and it would look garish.

The others don't work for me though I'm afraid. Certainly the last one looks like its been made wet and a felt pens have been dipped and allowed to run on it.
Oh Lord, Lead me not into temptation…

...Oh who am I kidding, follow me, I know a shortcut!

Thanks Bryan... As marbling is quite random anyway we found the Spirit Stains even more so.... Giving a completely
different effect to the normal acrylics.

The Ink transfers onto the wood completely differently but this is the first one ... so more trials needed  :)
  Kind Regards  Di Tony

The hollow form and the first bowl really do it for me....the choice of, and the blending of the colours just works so well.

Thanks Les...... We were very pleased with the h/f we didn't really know what was going  to happen,  as when the stains
are added they mix into each other , unlike acrylics which tend to sit on top of each other ..... when the wood is dipped
there is know indication to what you will get .
    Kind Regards

Thank You George for Commenting.......Have been pleasantly surprised how they have taken... as you say they have
a lovely effect not dramatic as acrylics can sometimes be..... quite a  soft look
  Kind Regards
