I was asked by my daughter to turn her a bowl that she could auction of at her charity night so I decided to turn this yew bowl. all comments welcome.

There's a lot about this bowl that I like....the quirkiness of the bowl itself, the contrast of the regularity of the square rim and the finish...it all works well. One little trick that I learnt from this forum (from dr4g0nfly, if I recall) was to turn a little bead that projects upwards at the intersection of the bowl and the rim....it just works so well.

Education is important, but wood turning is importanter.

thank you for your comments. it took a lot of thinking about doing this as it just did not seem to want to play and tried me all the way.

I like this. It's well turned as can be seen by the well maintained thickness of the square rim section.

I also love to turn yew bowls to reveal the holes through them from the irregular shape of the wood, so that especially appeals to me in this case.
