Ash canker end-grain pot
« on: December 04, 2016, 06:56:22 PM »
Rescued from the fire wood pile, a branch of ash with canker running through it. This piece is about 18cm diameter x 17 cm deep and the next piece along the branch will be turned into a cross-grain bowl tomorrow.
Green turned this morning, it dried rapidly and is just about 4mm thick throughout, so it's had a base coat of BLO to slow down the final drying process.

C&C always welcome....Les

I have to admit to getting slightly miffed at all this gorgeous wood you keep finding Les. ....Just kidding, love what you are doing with it all, keep it coming.

....it's the rugged, Welsh countryside....makes much more interesting timber than the stuff that grows in that southern fertile ground.

Very nice Les

Thank you George, I'm pleased that you like it.

Les, I see you are branching out into a different direction again, Kitchenware and wooden colanders!

Great piece,a very dramatic appearance from a piece of timber many would have disposed of, not turned.
