Walnut Candles
« on: February 10, 2017, 02:29:02 AM »
A set of small candle sticks, 145mm tall by 50mm dia in AB Walnut that hold LED Tea-Light "candles". Not quite the design I fancied making, but the 2" spindles and 39mm LED tea lights rather dictated the design options

Very nice candle holders. I would have spent a little more time on the finishing as there is a small amount of tear out and sanding marks. The extra few minutes with abrasive would make it worth while. This aside, nice contemporary designs and those battery lights are so good these days.

Nice simple shape, all the more effective for that. Trying to think where I have seen this design before, Think it's a classic.

A good exercise in repeat turning and they look nicely matched. Well done.

Nice bit of turning I have to agree with Mark a few more minutes on the finish and they would have really popped

Thanks for the constructive feedback and comments - I must try harder.

A useful lesson on giving my spindle gouge a fresh sharpen prior to do the final finishing cut and also to take my reading-glasses with me in to the workshop - I did spend more time than I probably ought to abrading; but clearly overlooked some defects - a useful lesson - thanks
