Latest project,no name yet.

this is made from Oak and I think Yew for the stand,it was turned on 8 axis, then carved and pierced, decided to dye it yellow, with red and orange over the base coat, its 7 1/4 ins tall and 4 ins ish across the widest points, made the stand for it as the way I wanted it to stand on its own,it kept falling over with the slightest puff of a breeze.

Hi Eric

I'm not so keen on the base I think that this would have looked much better on a slim thin base.

But WOW on the on the top. The multi axis turning and piercing really work.

All the best

I'll bet that was a nightmare of logistics to make; not only for working out all the correct axis points, but in piercing oak so finely.

I have to agree with you about the base Ed,wasn`t until I`d glued it on that I realised I`d made a booboo with that,at the time of making it,was only thinking about the weight, bad move on my part,I`ll see if it will go in the chuck and have a redesign later I think.

Know we have said this before Eric.... but we have always admired your patience and ingenuity this piece is no
exception ... prefer this version with the thinned down base.

Eric, I take my hat off to your patience, an amazing piece of work, and Ed was right, the slimmer base is far better.
