Vasculo
« on: March 11, 2017, 06:51:32 AM »
Its been awhile, very busy with a new gallery they wanted a selection of pieces all at the busiest time of year for me.

A small vase in Blackwood , Acacia melanoxylon from a remnant rainforest about a hours drive from me. The topsoil there is very deep in parts. This tree was washed over in a great rainstorm a few years ago a fair bit was lost to rot. But I managed to gain a good haul of timber.

200mm x 125mm finished in Antique Oil and buffed, probably buff it again  in a few days after it harden up some

Now,that I really like  ;D There's a feeling of movement and an affinity with Art Nouveau pottery that I love.

Cheers,

Mike.

Another great pot, Hughie....I love the way that the form accentuates the grain pattern.

Thanks Les, I do spend a fair bit of time choosing the blank and the grain orientation its a bit of a make or break if you dont.

Hughie,

I think the satin sheen on this is more effective than the high gloss you've shown us before. This is very much more natural to look at, and of course it screams who it was made by.

Great piece.

Its a very low gloss of wet buffed Antique oil, just enough to suggest a bit aged patina. hopefully :)
But thanks for the comments
