Wow very impressive. Please tell me, do you use the super high RPM drills (like a dentist uses) for the piercing. Would DIY Dremmel style tools be useless for this kind of work?

hi Steve thank you for your comments. I use a dermal to cut the hols out and a fine1.5mm carbide tip from I think Simon hope. they are good tips to use. wish I had the dentist stile cutter but cannot afford it at present. this is only my 4th attempt at piercing so am very happy with it.

Nicely done.

I think you must have taken nearly as much time laying out the design as piercing it.

It's good to know that you can achieve this kind of result with a Dremel (obviously with patience). Like you, the hi-RPM drills are out of my price range so I'll attempt with a Dremel and hope to get close to your quality.

What thickness did you turn the bowl to before piercing?

hi Steve I turned the bowl to about 8mm in thickness. but thinner would help with the piercing.

I really like the design of the platter and its piercings, but felt it somehow looked a little heavier than what I'm used to seeing. I don't do any piercing work, so I wasn't commenting on it as I certainly couldn't do as well, let alone any better. I take my hat off to you for coping with a Dremel on an 8mm thick substrate; from the demos that I've attended, most of the professionals start off with 2mm wall thickness.

I like the design of this Dennis. I use to use a Dremel and found that I could only use it for short periods of time so well done for sticking at it. Look forward to the next one.
