Haven't had chance to post for some time but I thought I'd like to share this commission with you.
I was approached to try to make something of an ornamental Cherry stump after the tree needed to be felled due to getting just too big for its front garden location. The short stump (trunk) of the tree was nearly 600mm across, this was planked 60mm thick and left to season for a couple of years.
I then agreed a design with the clients and set about the turning process. It looks fairly straight forward but in order to get the table to stand upright, the discs needed to be perfectly flat. Finished with 4 coats of Danish oil then lightly buffed with Carnauba the table was then assembled using M8 threaded bar.
Overall dimensions of the piece are 550mm high by 400mm wide. C & C welcome, hope you like it, the clients did.
