Oak burr pot....with void
« on: July 21, 2017, 08:40:40 PM »
A bit of fun with a very rugged piece of weathered oak burr. I was working on a commission to make an oak burr celebration cup the other day, and this was the scrap piece off the end of the baulk of burr. It's out of a 6" cube which had lots of cracks and voids, so it very nearly ended up in the firewood pile, which would have been a shame.

C&C always welcome....Les

That's the type of turning I like, nice burr and good finishing.
Assuming that it is an oil finish?

Ken

Probably obvious what I think of it LOL. Nice to see the last bit of the wood getting used and used well.

Thanks Ken, but nope, it's microcrystaline over Tripoli, over Cellulose

Garden paths, chickens and compost loos. A local dairy farmer takes the rest of mine in the winter for the  milking yard, soaks up all the mud and muck. Summer he doesn't need it so most of it goes to the bonfire.

Les well done for using this piece and the end results. I guess you nearly gave Pete a heart attack when you said it couldv'e ended up in the firewood pile.
Interesting what people do with their wood shavings. got loads to get rid of if anyone wants them.
