Sometimes Mo gets things come into the shop which seem too good to throw out. This was part of a pair of herons made from buffalo horn. One had a damaged beak so not saleable. (since mended) this one, the smaller one, was OK. One of the places we often pop into is a little museum in Bath that has exhibitions of japanese and chinese art and one thing they had recently was a collection of old sculptures that consisted mainly of natural wood with carvings and pots so I thought it'd be fun to make a weed pot but in oriental style. The pot is oak, heavily brushed on the outside and stained black, inside is sanded back, stained red and polished. The base is a very burry branch cut in half, buffed and polished. the pot is 4" (10mm) tall and the base is 7" (175mm) long. The heron is 5" (125mm) tall. C&C welcome as always
