yew carved hollow form

the progress on the yew vase has come to the finished item. the vase has been turned then carved then hand sanded. it is about 9x5" in size. there is about 20hrs in the project. all comments welcome.

Well that's rather nice...the grain in the yew responds so well to the contours that you have carved. Great work!

Think I need to see this one in the flesh so to speak. The wood has so much going on that the carving is a bit obscured. No problems with quality etc just wonder if it would have been more dramatic in a plainer wood. Hats off for the workmanship and patience however.

decided to modified the shape of the base so here is the photos of the new shape.

20 hours work, I won't ask what you've learnt in the process of making this.
But you've done it well for a first go at adding a spiral twist, so I will ask, will there be another one in the future?

I really like the MkII version, and think it suits the yew well. Don't think I'll ever tackle something as demanding as this though!
