Wood Swap?
« on: February 02, 2019, 09:04:09 PM »
It has been suggested an additional category is added to the forum for wood swaps. The purpose of this would be for forum members to negotiate swaps of woodturning timber and blanks.

The basic framework would be as follows:
  • Any member participating would do so at their own risk and would need to satisfy themselves the person they negotiate with is genuine and trustworthy.
  • Any swaps are handled between the individuals involved
  • Anyone abusing the facility would be excluded from further involvement
  • Sales of timber and blanks would still be posted under the for sale section.

Please vote Yes or No.

The poll will run for 14 days and the result will appear at the end of that time (around the 16th of Feb). If the majority vote is yes a category will be created.

Though I am sure that local clubs have the edge in this, it cant hurt and may help.

Tried voting twice and both times it doesn't work. Me or the coding?

For this to work I think each member would have to put on their avatar profile their location so we can see if it is local or postal costs will be incurred.

Good idea none the less.

Cheers Martin.

I don't think we need a separate category for swaps. Perhaps it might be simpler and better to rename the For Sale category to include wants and swaps.

The trouble with swapping is that you have to part with a piece of wood!

Or a "Thank you" button would be nice, to show we are grateful for peoples help and advice?

You could of course just respond to the post and say "Thank you" or "I like that"!

Sometimes a few words say so much more than a button ever could...

As the majority have voted in favour, the wood swap section has been created. Enjoy!  :)
