Oak burr sculpture
« on: March 03, 2019, 11:45:54 PM »
Slightly different to the usual sculptural pieces that I make, this one has a vertical emphasis whereas I usually settle for a horizontal line. About 65cm tall and on a scorched oak base with a silver-steel rod for support.
C&C always welcome...Les

Some careful turning needed for this one Les. Like it a lot.

Nice one Les, I like this piece a lot. To take a randomly natural shaped blank and to produce a piece with poise and balance is very commendable. I also like the contrasts of light and dark and scorched and detailed pippy oak burr surfaces.

Stunning work Les.

The figuring under the scorching on the top part looks like smoke curls from a smouldering fire to me.

Thank you Bryan, John (x2) and Pete....I just love making these; you just never know what the wood's going to throw at you - usually lumps of bark!
