Old Oak Bowl

Old Oak Bowl ..... We tried to create a rustic old bowl , with an old cable ring. It has been left with a lot of marks to
signify old age turning. Its 12"x4" and finished in Danish oil.

Hi Tony & Di....it's good to see your work on the forum again. I really, really like this bowl, it's just the sort of piece that I like to make andncertainly does have an aged look.

Tony, Di,
Great to see you posting again. Love this bowl but more than that, the rope effect around the rim really works well with the overall effect you've created.

An interesting use of a piece of burr. The carving of the "rope" was probably quite a challenge given the ways a burr's grain twists about. I like the way it appears to be holding the bowl from splitting down from the rim. It gives the piece a lot of character which lifts it above the usual burr bowl.

Thank You Bryan .... My only regret is not spending enough time rounding off the rope/ cable. If we do another piece
I'll make better job.
Kind Regards

Thank You John for taking all the elements into prospective. You seem to have seen the effect we were
Looking for.
