Confusion

(1/1)

Buzzbee:
Is that a continental style spindle roughing gouge being used on a bowl on the front page of this Month's Woodturning.
No 337   ?   ?  ?  Cause for concern I think.

bodrighywood:
Possibly and as bowl gouges didn't exit as we know them until the 1950's / 60's not really a cause for concern. If it was a roughing gouge or a tool with a tang then I would agree.

John Plater:
I've seen some of our european brethren using a similar profile of gouge for hollowing bowls.

Buzzbee:
Thanks guys and concede that doubts often exist when viewing tool choices on some images. Explanation given by Mark Baker on Institute site has addressed my concern. Need to review magazine now to try and find some inspirational content.

bodrighywood:
Mark is pretty hot on things like that so it was unlikely to be a danger. Always worth checking though.
