Can someone please identify the wood pictured below

To  make a good quality identification, we need good quality photos! A close-up of clean end grain is a big help.....some background info can also be a big help - is it from UK growth or exotic etc.
For what it's worth, I'd say it's walnut, but as I say, based on the paucity of info that you've provided, that's more a guess than a worthwhile identification.

Agree with Les that ID would be easier with better and closer images. Does look like english walnut though with the heart amnd sap wood.

Looks like American black walnut to me.
