TULIP WOOD

(1/2) > >>

chunkey monkey:
Is tulip wood good for turning I have a chance to buy some tomorrow, 25" rounds with terrific dark grain features!

ericroy:
I love it and have found it turns easily and takes a good finish. Used it early on in my turning adventures and was pleased to get good results even though relatively inexperienced.  :)

Twisted Trees:
Can be a little bit "soft" to take hard detail not good for texturing really but good to turn and can look great under ordinary finish or stain / colour

bodrighywood:
A good all round timber. Can go grey in patches otherwise fairly bland colouring. Not good for texturing as said  but is for staining. Used widely in the furniture making industry because of its stability. This is assuming you are referring to the UK version aka poplar
