Highly figured olive ash vessel

hello folks

I made this piece a few weeks ago, it was cut from the very centre of a large olive ash crotch section.
Its finished with 3 coats of woodoc 10 and measures 8" tall by 5 1/2" wide

     Really Nice Form  Turned in one of our favourite woods.

That is a wonderful piece the grain really pops on this one

Wow George, that's a stunning piece of ash and it's resulted in a fine pot. That last picture makes it look like a mascot on a car bonnet!:)

George,

you seem to have a knack lately for finding wood with grain like this, it's wonderful and the turning is as amazing as ever in it's simplistic and artistic beauty.

Very nice bit of wood and a simple graceful, very well executed  profile to the form to show it at its best !  Was this turned from green and finished in one go , as I know from experience that "crotch " wood moves ... a lot ..!! sometimes the surface can become rippled/ undulating in a pleasant way ... other times though it can split  or warp lop sided to such an extent it spoils the form . or in extreme  cases all of the above and fall over as well !!!
