Northern Woodturners
« on: May 23, 2014, 03:47:59 PM »
I'm heading off, up north for a week-or-so, next week and wondered if there are any woodturners with visitor galleries that our members know of. I'll be spending a few days around Carlisle and the borders, then heading off over the Pennines and spending a few days on the Northumberland coast.

Hi Les It might be worth a look at G&S Specialist Timber and Alpaca Centre Just off the M6 Junction 40 on to  A66 Keswick Road.
Rolly Munro was demoing when we went about 3 years ago.   They have a wood store   tools  and  accessories  café with a
small gallery above with some woodturnings and other crafts.

Philip Greenwood I think is that way or it could be more North Yorks Moors Don't know for sure
Were ever you end up have good time

Thanks, D&T, for the address....the Alpaca centre sounds ideal. Sal can have a coffee at a wander around the gallery etc etc, whilst I rummage through wood-stocks.

John.....as I'm going so far 'UP' north, at which point along the M6 will I need to adorn my oxygen mask?

Hi Di and Tony....so pleased that you posted this address. I called in and spent an hour rummaging amongst their stock. i bought a Hamlet hollowing tool and a few blanks....so it was all well worth-while.

Les

p.s. ... G&S were somewhat more impressive than the alpacas!
