Nice little commission
« on: August 15, 2014, 01:27:53 PM »
Sometimes when you turn to put bread on the table you can't choose what you make. I do a fair few crafting tools but this order was a bit of a surprise. 200 of these tapestry bobbins a year. Did a prototype and sent it off and they are happy and have confirmed the order. All I need now is self discipline LOL.

Well done. Did you have to quote a price before or with the sample ?

I have learnt the first rule of woodturning.
The internal diameter should never exceed the external width.
Nor the internal depth, the external height.
Does that make me an expert now ?

You give them a quote first for something like this. With a bulk order like this you can charge less per unit than if it is a one off.

It will provide a bit of jam as well LOL

Better yet they look like they could be made from 1" or even 3/4" board timber. Always good to find something to make from the more easily obtainable woods.

A good commission.
