Spalted Beech vessels

Along the same theme as my last 2 posts ( spalted wood ) I include some pics of some spalted beech vessels to show the extent and variety of the effect of spalting . As you have probably guessed I like spalted wood and enjoy turning it as it is neither soaking wet or dusty dry and therefore nice to work ( cuts fine with blunt tools lol ) also it is quite readily available and cheap . The second piece with the flat top shows a strong deliniation between rotting and sound wood and was made to capture / show that to good effect .. ( not very easy to hollow though !!)

Nature at it's finest, the colours and convoluted designs hidden inside that bit of timber wore well worth the effort of releasing, which you'v e done spectacularly well.
